PTFE-lined butterfly valves are a specialized type of shut-off valve designed for corrosive and high-purity applications.
The body of these valves are PTFE lined or its advanced variations, providing a protective barrier between the process medium and the valve body. This enhances chemical resistance, durability, and operational safety. Depending on the media, the disc can be in different full metals from stainless steel to Hastelloy or Titanium. The highest corrosion resistance or high purity applications will be solved with a PFA overmoulded disc, available in an antistatic version too.
Different versions of PTFE-lined butterfly valves exist to accommodate specific industrial requirements:
- Standard PTFE liner – Suitable for general chemical and high-purity applications.
- ULTRAFLON® liner – Designed for enhanced corrosion resistance, reducing diffusion of aggressive chemicals thanks to lower permeability. ULTRAFLON® is the preferred choice for vacuum applications. Furthermore, it has a better wear resistance than standard PTFE and can be used for slightly abrasive media.
- Antistatic liner– Developed for explosion prevention in environments where static charge buildup must be avoided.
